Dear Friends@Festival,

Well…it’s that time of year again! If your favorite Spice Girl was Pumpkin Spice and all the leaves are brown (and the sky is sometimes gray), it’s time. And if you happen to be here in Houston where the high temps are finally out of the 90s, it’s also time for that Stitching Soirée down at the George R. Brown Convention Center!

Fall Appliqué (94” x 108”) by Frances Benton and machine quilted by Angela Walters. The 2023 International Quilt Festival Signature Quilt.

Monkeys in My Hair—(Evie) (41” x 48”) by Deborah Hyde. The Handi Quilter Best of the Show Award in the 2023 Quilt Festival Judged Show.

Our annual International Quilt Festival runs November 2-5, with classes beginning on October 30 and Preview Night on November 1. This year will have nearly 1,100 total quilts in 31 themed exhibits as well as the 2023 Festival Judged Show. There are more shopping booths this year with 625+, and almost 275 classes and lectures taught by top teachers from all over the world. And don’t forget free teacher demos in our Open Studios™ area.

We’ll also be posting, posting, posting across our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, and even some on Threads) on our “QuiltFestival” account. And if you’re posting from the show, be sure to use the hashtag #quiltfestival!

Once this year’s show is done and in the books, we’ll be looking forward to October 30-November 2, 2024. That’s when Festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a lot of cool features and a spectacular display of Red, White, and Blue quilts to mark the occasion. Get info on entering your work in that exhibit or many others!

And if you’ve got an idea for a Friends@Festival story (and it doesn’t have to be related to the show!), write us at friendsatfestival@quilts.com!

Take care, Friends!
